Privacy policy

Anyone can visit CircuitQuest and play as a guest. Guest progress stays in this browser. If you create a CircuitQuest profile using ChatGPT sign-in, your chosen name, companion and revision progress are stored for your account. Profiles and scores are private; there are no public leaderboards, ads or paid rewards.
Who runs this service
CircuitQuest is an independent electrical revision game operated independently. It is not endorsed by City & Guilds. For privacy or data requests, contact jacob.bs@icloud.com. You can export and delete account data from your profile.
Information we use
- Guest play: round settings, answers, scores, XP and preferences are kept in this browser’s local storage.
- Signed-in profile: the hosting platform supplies a site-specific user ID and email to confirm who is signed in. CircuitQuest stores the user ID, chosen display name, companion, accent, and synced revision data. We do not store a password or a copy of your email in the application database.
- Technical service data: the hosting and sign-in providers may process request and security data under their own policies. CircuitQuest does not add analytics, advertising trackers or location tracking.
Why we use it
We use saved answers and settings to show your own progress, review mistakes, award XP and unlock cosmetic rewards. Reward data includes collected items, equipped cosmetics and claimed optional daily tasks. We use your site-specific user ID to keep your records separate from other users. Account storage is provided when you choose to create a profile; guest play does not require one. No decision about exams, employment or professional competence is made from your score.
Browser storage and external resources
Local storage saves the game on your device. Guest progress and each signed-in account use separate storage keys. Creating a profile lets you choose whether to copy guest progress into that profile. Signed-in progress, saved questions and private revision notes are synced to the account database. Saved marking reports are also part of that progress; they are not sent as messages to a tutor or a support inbox. The game currently requests fonts from Google Fonts, which receives the normal technical information needed to serve them. The companion and reference drawings are served by this site.
Who can see it
Your profile and progress are private to your signed-in account and the service operator where needed to run the site. Other learners cannot search for your name or see a leaderboard. Application data is stored in the hosting platform’s database. It is not sold or used for targeted advertising.
How long it stays
Guest data stays in your browser until you clear it or use the reset control. Signed-in profile and progress stay until you use “Delete profile and progress” or the operator removes the service. There is no automatic dormant-account deletion yet. Hosting-provider backups and security logs may have their own retention rules.
Your choices and rights
You can play without a profile, export saved data, change your display name and companion, or delete the profile and synced progress. You may also have rights under UK data protection law to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to use of your information and to data portability. Children have these rights too. Email jacob.bs@icloud.com for a request you cannot complete in the app. The Information Commissioner’s Office explains these rights and how to raise a concern.
Young learners
The game is designed for college learners, including some under 18. Profiles are private by default. There is no location tracking, public social feature, direct messaging or pressure to buy rewards. Practical electrical work still needs suitable training and supervision.
Changes
Material changes to what the site collects or shares should be explained here before they take effect. This policy describes the current public site.
